If you're interested in seeing some recent pictures, I just posted some on our picasa site.

Learning is fun

Emmalynne's latest thing is anything that has to do with her mouth. She learned how to blow raspberries into the air and amazed herself with that for about a week. Then she figured out from that point, it wasn't too hard just add a little saliva and spit. It gets worse. It took her a bit to move to the next thing: slurping her spit back in! She spits, slurps it in, spits, slurps it in...etc. In addition she thinks its neat to blow air out of her mouth right around her two bottom teeth. Typically she gets this almost whistle sound. But yesterday she actually got a real whistle! She'll have to teach Carman how. The worst part of this whole spitting, slurping, whistling is that I cannot get it on video. Anytime I pull out the camera she forgets what she's doing and goes right into smiles. Well, either smiles or grunts demanding she get a turn to play with the camera. Someday I'm going to catch it on video and share it!

Snowed in...

We've had a great couple of weeks. Last weekend was the most eventful. My brother Jason happened to be working out of Atlanta so Carman and I thought we'd take a little weekend trip to go see him. We were hoping to be able to go to the Atlanta temple but we weren't able to make it before the last session. Instead, we got there just in time for a few errands and dinner. We went to a Mexican restaurant that was really good. Emmalynne had a lemon. I was excited for the sour face and was disappointed that she never made one. I guess she thought it was just like an orange. Uncle Jason hadn't seen Emmalynne since November and boy has she changed. She liked playing with him. He, like a good uncle, thought she was the cutest little baby ever.

Sunday morning we got up to go to church but left a little late. Since Jason had lived in the area before he took a "short-cut." As soon as he mentioned the short-cut, I was worried. Just as he was finishing explaining why this route was so much shorter, the road dead-ended. Some short cut. After a moment of being flabbergasted, he realized he'd missed a turn and we headed back. We laughed it off now that we were on the real short-cut. Jason told us that the road ahead would take us right to the church. It was just then that we saw the road barracaid with the big sign that said, "bridge closed." Once again, we turned around. Needless to say, we were late for church!!

When we got out of church it was snowing the biggest flakes ever and all of the kids were running around like wild children raised by monkeys. We ended up getting 2 inches. Sure, it may not sound like much snow to those of you out in Utah but Atlanta hadn't had a single inch of snow in 9 years!

Carman had school and work on Monday and we had decided we'd leave at like 2 in the morning to head back home. The snow pretty much ruined that plan. The snow storm took our exact route home and Charlotte was expecting 5-8 inches. We waited until 8am on Monday and headed out. On the 4 hour drive home, which took 6 because of the weather/people who can't drive in snow, we counted 65 cars in the ditch! On the radio I heard that a semi had jack knifed in S. Carolina at 1:30 in the morning and the interstate was closed until 8:45 am when they opened one lane. We were sure glad we'd waited!

Seriously though, who gets snowed in in Atlanta?? I had wondered if Carman's work would call him crazy when he called in to tell them he'd be late coming in because he'd been snowed in in Atlanta, Georgia! I don't even have any proof because my camera battery died before the snow ever came. I was so disappointed. However, I do have a few vacation pictures I'll put up later when I'm on my home computer.
