Don't Do It

Help me, I'm crazy! I'm thinking about getting a kitten again. Somebody remind me why I shouldn't do that.

Late Birthday

Since I was in Illinois on Emmalynne's birthday, we celebrated a week late. (Which was a couple weeks ago!) We had a small family party the day after we got home. I was probably too tired to throw a party but it worked out.

Her birthday loot:

Her immediate favorite was lip gloss from Aunt Laura. She wore way too much and attempted to put the same amount on me.

And, what is a party without a push-up contest?

Here are the adults having a go at it. I did the most push-ups in 1 minute. I'm sure I only beat Jason because he'd be kayaking all morning and already used his upper body strength for the day. Oh, and it might have something to do with my less-than-perfect posture.

Let me explain the lack of birthday cake pictures. I was too tired to make a cake! We had ice cream instead. The attention of being sung to wasn't what Emmalynne was looking for. So, here she is with tears and ice cream! We didn't even get a shot of her with the candles in the ice cream.

Feeding the Goats

Just a mile or two from my parents house is the best petting zoo I've been to. When we were on our family vacation last month, we stopped there. The girls both loved feeding the goats. It was only a quarter for a handful of feed. Watching the girls have so much fun was thrilling and I'm sure we spent at least $2.00 there.

Playing With Louie

The girls missed lots of things while we were gone. Daddy was missed more than anything but Louie got second place.

Vacation, School, And Surgery

It seems I haven't blogged in awhile. I blame most of that on my user account on our computer not working and not being able to access or upload pictures. Posts without pictures are less fun. So here's a brief picture-less update:

We all had a week off and went on vacation. Last minute we decided to drive to IL, see some family, and visit Nauvoo. It was a lot of fun! It was way more driving than we originally planned, but we had lots of fun. The girls are really good in the car! They're especially good if we give them lots of candy...

Carman started school when we got home. Its going to be a very busy 5 weeks for him. And then another busy 5 weeks. And then a busy 2 semesters. However, he's set to graduate this coming May!! Woot-woot!

3 days after we got home my dad had a heart attack and I packed the kids up and drove back to IL with my sister. Today, just over a week later, he had open heart surgery. He ended up getting 6 bypasses done. We haven't been able to see him yet but we talked to the surgeon and everything went very well. Its been a semi-difficult week. I'm glad to be here with my family.

Another note: A friend from my parents ward is watching my girls for me while I'm at the hospital. I called to check on them this afternoon. Angie has been watching them for me since yesterday. She said, "Its been fun getting to know their personalities. Emmalynne is a little sweetie. Clara is more demanding and wants to get her way and she'll let you know if she's not happy!" I said, "Yep, you've got the right kids." Isn't it funny how kids come with their own little personalities?
