Hard to count em'

Emmalynne got a cough on Saturday. Soon a runny nose, congestion, and *other bad things joined the cough. She's been feeling so yucky and I've wished I could make it go away. I think today is the "sleep it off" day. She went to bed at 6:50 last night. She woke up at 8:30. Yep, nearly 14 hours! She was only awake for an hour-long enough to get her diaper changed, eat, and go back to sleep. That nap was from 9:30 to 11:30. Um, hmm, 2 more hours of sleep. Then she played for a total of 2 hours and, wabam! Back to sleep at 1:30... who knows when she'll get up. I hope all the sleeping pays off. Don't be afraid that she won't sleep tonight because she had a very similar schedule yesterday and obviously slept that night. She's slept so much in the past two days its hard to even count all the hours she's spent in dreamland!

Yesterday, for one of those tiny spurts of being awake, she amazed me by finally pulling her tummy off the carpet and getting herself up on her hands and tippy toes! Crawling must not be too far away. ...I'm not sure if that should be exciting or nerve racking!

One little complaint

I'm still here. It just seems like nothing has happened worth blogging about. I still don't think I have anything fun to share so I'll complain instead.

I've always had a favorite sister. The one, the only, Laura. We have lots of fun together-even when we're not doing anything. She even hired me as her "nanny" when she took a family vacation to Hawaii last year. It was wonderful. I got to have fun with my nephews and get to know my niece who was less than a year old. Well, after I got married, my love for her and her family moved me all the way across the country. We'd always dreamed of living by each other when we were grown up. For the first few months I lived just one bedroom away. Its been 8 months now and I've realized how much I love living by family. Just the other day we were at a Christmas party and were invited over to their house to play games afterwards. Carman and I decided we thought it sounded like fun. We headed out to the car and when Jared saw us he asked, "Are you coming over?" I told him we were. Zach immediately piped in, "Yay! Carman's coming over!!" Carman? What ever happened to Sarah!? Okay, Okay, male bonding? Sure that's what we'll call it. I thought I'd gotten over it when one morning a few days later I ran over to Laura's to drop something off. When I went in should told me about what happened before she let me in. She was getting Megan out of bed and told her Emmalynne was there. Probably a way to try and coax her out of bed. A few moments later I knocked on the door. What do you suppose Megan said? "Yay, Carman's here!" That's right. Carman. No fair.

One week ago...

Carman and I were getting ready for our first family shopping experience on Black Friday. Boy were we excited. We had been saving up to get a new camera and I had researched out exactly which one we wanted to get and then found where to get the best deal. After all my ad looking we decided we'd go to a couple of different stores for other items and because we thought it sounded like fun. We weren't stressed about making sure we got anything since I knew we could get the camera online just as cheap. We decided to start at Wal-Mart at opening time. We accidentally got there 5-10 minutes early.

As we started walking towards the end of the line we saw just how far it went on. Being the intelligent people we are, we thought, "Lets just wait here for the line to come to us." No sooner had we stopped when a lady whistled to get our attention. She scowled, "DA BACK UH DA LYNZ BACK DAIRE!" as she pointed a mile down the sidewalk. (Translation for those of you that don't speak Southern Big Lady-The back of the line's back there) We explained that we were simply going to wait for it to catch up to us. "Uh-huh, sure ya are... I know yer type! Yer gonna try ta jump in once it starts movin'. Na-uh, to da back uh da line!" Carman and I assured her we were no there to cheat our way into the line and we would be waiting until the end. We didn't convince her but we waited anyway.

As it got closer and closer to opening time, people started crowding around the front doors (not in the line). The crowd was pretty big when the dedicated people in line started chanting "back of the line, back of the line, back of the line!" It was so funny. Like anyone was going to actually try to jump in front of those super super early risers. If they wanted to show up at 3:00 AM, by all means, they deserved their 8 minute head-start at the bargains! Well the doors finally opened and, what do you know?, the crowd actually rushed the doors. It was crazy. Everybody was shoving and pushing. Carman and I were glad were just spectators on the side line! Wal-Mart employees had to shut the doors and calm people down before reopening them. When they did, everyone was still in a hurry to get their $2 movies and discounted flat screens. As the line rushed past us, one lady accidentally hit the man in front of her with her shopping cart. This is what followed:

Lady- "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"

The man turned around and responded, "That's okay... I got Geico."

It was hilarious!!! Carman and I just about lost it! It was better than Geico's real commercials!

And the line ended and we officially entered Wal-Mart 8 minutes after the doors opened. Whew! We had fun shopping and got everything we wanted...and then some!
